lanning a journey to Bhutan? Here's what US citizens should know about the bhutan visa for us citizens. All visitors (except certain nations like India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives) must apply for a visa in advance through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. Once your travel plans are confirmed, the operator will submit your visa application to Bhutan’s Tourism Council. The standard visa fee is USD 40 per person. Additionally, travellers must pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD 100 per night, which covers accommodation, meals, transport, guide services, and supports Bhutan’s environment and communities. Children under 12 often receive a discounted SDF, while kids under 5 usually travel for free. You must hold a valid passport with at least six months’ validity beyond your planned stay. Upon arrival at Paro Airport, your visa will be stamped in your passport. Remember, you cannot extend your visa once you enter; it’s valid only for the dates specified. Working with an experienced tour operator ensures a smooth, stress-free process from start to finish.
